Disconnects

Disconnects and Vacations

Water bills are considered delinquent if not paid by the 5th of each month.  You are in danger of disruption of service if you receive a bill that shows you have a previous and current amount due, and that bill is not paid by the 5th.  After the 5th the customers in danger of a disconnect will be mailed a Termination Notice billing card giving you the date your water will be disconnected if a payment arrangement or payment of the bill is not received.  We will make a reasonable payment arrangement with any customer as long as the payment arrangement is made before the day disconnect is scheduled.  After that point the payment is due in full. Cash or online payments are the only payment accepted.

Once water service has been disconnected you will need to come to our office and pay the full amount owed on your account in cash to get your water back on.  Online payments can be made for this as well, but you will need to notify the office of online payment. If reconnection is requested during business hours the reconnect fee is $30.00.  After hours the reconnect, fee is $50.00.  These fees will need to be paid in full along with the total amount of the customers billing before water service will be restored.  If we find the customer has turned their water back on after a disconnect we charge another $30.00.  When a meter is locked and found to be tampered with by the customer the police are called, and a report will be filed for tampering with PWSD # 1 property.  Any costs occurred would be the responsibility of the customer and water may only be reconnected when all amounts including penalties are paid in full.  These penalties are necessary since to disconnect and reconnect employees are being taken away from their normal duties for something that could have been prevented.

WE WILL MAKE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS ON ANY BILL IF THE CUSTOMER WILL CALL AND FILL OUT PROMISSARY NOTE FORM.  THE FORM WILL NEED TO BE FAXED TO 417-823-0056 OR PUT IN DROP BOX AT THE OFFICE BEFORE THE DATE DUE ON THE BILL!

Prolonged Absence

If you are leaving on vacation for a long period of time, or if your house will be unoccupied for more than a month, please contact this office to make arrangements to have your water shut-off at the meter.  This will protect you from any leaks in your home while you are away, but the current minimum charge will still occur.  You must call the office when you return to have your meter turned back on.  This office will not turn any meter on without someone being in the home in case there is a leak.
